MAGUIRE
Nicole Maguire - Original Art Inspired by Place
Rooted in direct experience of place, the work has developed through successive bodies of drawings and paintings that progressively distil a singular visual language.
Early works on paper - drawn in cafés in Paris and later in Sydney - established a fluid, continuous line, capturing lived experience with immediacy and restraint.
Abstract oil paintings developed along Sydney’s coastline, including Bondi Beach, reduced landscape to tonal fields, light and spatial rhythm, shifting from depiction toward atmosphere.
More recent works, shaped by immersion in the Middle Eastern desert and the Old City of Jerusalem, integrate these threads. Inscribed line recalls the early drawings, while abstracted terrain and textured surfaces - incorporating natural materials such as Dead Sea mud - anchor the paintings materially and conceptually.
What emerges is not a departure but a consolidation: a visual language formed through observation, abstraction and spiritual inquiry, now working in unison.
